Description

Measurements of the high energy reference fields established behind the shielding of accelerators at CERN, Geneva, and JINR, Dubna, were made using a Linear Energy Transfer (LET) spectrometer based on a chemically etched track detector. The experiments demonstrated the wide capabilities of this microdosimetric technique. The LET spectra are in a reasonable agreement with those obtained by means of a tissue equivalent proportional counter. The integral values of the dosimetric characteristics calculated from the LET spectra also approach closely those obtained by other dosimetric and microdosimetric methods. (P.A.)
