Researches about uranium enrichment carried out in the Nuclebras'Research Center - CDTN

Description
The first researches on uranium enrichment by the Jet Nozzle Process, were carried out initially by the Nuclear Research Center of Karlsruhe - KfK, in Germany. The process development received a deciside thrust in 1975, when NUCLEBRAS and other German institutions decided to join the efforts in order to demonstrate the technical and economical feasibility of the process. More recently, some experimental facilities have been transferred from KfK to the NUCLEBRAS'Research Center - CDTN, where they are providing relevant data concerning to the bahviour for advanced Separation Elements and enrichment Cascades. The experience acquired by CDTN is being used to support the implantation activities of the uranium enrichment plant being erected in Resende. (Author)

As pesquisas iniciais sobre o processo de enriquecimento por Jato Centrifugo foram realizadas pelo Centro de Pesquisas Nucleares de Karlsruhe - KfK. O desenvolvimento do processo sofreu um impulso decisivo em 1975, quando a NUCLEBRAS e outras instituicoes alemas decidiram iniciar a etapa de comprovacao de viabilidade tecnico-comercial do processo. Mais recentemente, algumas instalacoes utulizadas para investigar o processo foram transferidas do KfK para o Centro de Desenvolvimento da Tecnologia Nuclear da NUCLEBRAS, em Belo Horizonte, onde sua operacao vem contribuindo para gerar dados de significativa importancia para o estudo do comportamento de elementos de separacao e de cascatas de enriquecimento. A experiencia adquirida pelo CDTN vem sendo utilizada para dar suporte as atividades de implantacao da Usina de Enriquecimento de Uranio, em construcao na cidade de Resende. (Autor)Additional details
