Structure effect on mechanical properties of welded joints of titanium VT6 alloy

Description

The effect of thermoplastic cycle of the electron-beam welding and the succeeding annealings on the mechanical properties and structure of the welded joints is considered for the choice of the most fovourable variant of heat treatment of welded structures. It is shown that a special interphase layer the width of which changes in the process of heat treatment is formed in the VT6 alloy on the α- and β-crystal interface. It is supposed that oxygen is partially localized in the β-phase about the vanadium atoms. Change in the mechanical characteristics at the heat treatment of welded joints is connected with the presence or absence of interphase α/β interlayer and oxygen content in the β-phase
