Nuclear fuel rod

Description

This invention concerns a nuclear fuel rod suitable, particularly to the use for water cooled reactors. Uranium-plutonium mixed oxide fuel pellet of a nuclear fuel rod is constituted with a plurality of regions in which the mixing ratio of plutonium dioxide to uranium dioxide is different. Further, the mixing ratio is made higher in the central portion than in the peripheral portion of the nuclear fuel pellet in adjacent with a fuel can. Since this can increase the ratio of forming 233Pu due to 238U(η, γ)239Pu forming reaction, the degradation ratio of reactivity can be reduced by about 1 %, thereby enabling high burn-up degree.
