The effect of grain size of nickel activating the sintering of molybdenum

Description
The effect of metallic nickel powder on the course of molybdenum sintering was studied. Three fractions of nickel powder, differing in grain size, were used. Sintering was carried out under hydrogen within the temperature range of 1000-19000C for 3 hrs. 0.1-1.2% at. of nickel was added to the molybdenum. It was shown that at the lower temperatures the nickel grain size exerts a strong effect on the molybdenum sintering process. At temperatures exceeding melting point of nickel the course of molybdenum sintering depends to a lesser degree on the activator grain size. (Auth.)
