On the use of solid state detectors for nuclear reactions induced by very heavy ions

  • 1. Marburg Univ. (Germany, F.R.). Inst. fuer Kernchemie

Description

Experimental problems and evaluation methods are discussed on the investigation of nuclear reactions induced by very heavy ions using solid state track detectors. The general principles of the 4π and 2π track detectors are summarized. The modifications are given, which are used in this work. Microphotos are shown on two- three- and four-track events, and the evaluation technique is outlined which is used to separate the two types of two-track events (coulomb scattering and nuclear reaction). On the basis of the results the method is claimed to be useful for the investigation of heavy ions (Kr) induced nuclear reactions. (T.G.)
