Thermal analysis of synchrotron light monitor primary mirror for Indus-2

  • 1. Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore (India)

Description

This paper describes the thermal analysis of the primary mirror, which reflects the visible part of Synchrotron radiation from the Indus-2 storage ring. During the operation internally cooled mirror substrate is subjected to a maximum heat flux of 0.8 W/mm2. Attenuation of X-rays at surface or sub-surface region results in heating of the substrate of mirror, which in turn give rise to the thermal distortion. High power and high power density due to the absorbed radiation are significant design consideration. (author)
