Description

The techniques of nuclear orientation and nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei were applied to 23.4 h 96Nb and 35.2 d 95Nb in Fe, the sample being prepared with the recoil-implantation technique via the reaction 96Zr(α, chinp) at Esub(α)=70 MeV. The ground-state spin of 96Nb was measured to be I=6, in accordance with the expectation according to the nuclear shell model. The magnetic hyperfine splitting νsub(M)=vertical strokegμsub(N)Bsub(HF)/hvertical stroke of 95NbFe and 96NbFe were measured as 275.20(5) MHz and 167.24(2) MHz, respectively. With the known hyperfine field Bsub(HF)(NbFe)=-264.54(19) kG the g-factors are deduced to be: 95Nb, Isup(π)=9/2:vertical strokegvertical stroke=1.3648(10); 96Nb, Isup(π)=6+:vertical strokegvertical stroke=0.8294(6). Several γ-ray mixing ratios in 95Mo were determined. (orig.)
