Techniques And Methods Of Signal Integrity Assessment At Neutron Detector Preamplifier Module Depin-01

  • 1. Institute for Nuclear Research, Pitesti, (Romania)

Description

In this paper are presented techniques for assessing the integrity of the signal referring to the preamplifier module, which is meant to condition the voltage signal coming from the thermal neutron detector, for modernization by a redesign of printed circuit board and use of more advanced operational amplifiers. A detailed case study was carried out from the preamplifier's electrical circuit, the PCB was executed, and electromagnetic stimuli (signals) were applied to the points of interest on the preamplifier input, which were designed to simulate the signals provided by the detectors with BF3, use the Fuel Failure System (SLCD). The behaviour of important traces has been analysed, where ensuring good signal integrity has a critical role in the proper operation of the instrumentation. In order to evaluate the behaviour of printed circuit board at fast signals up to 150ns, both circuit and plate diagram parameters (line impedances, interplanar capacity, etc.) were considered when performing the analysis. A thermal plate analysis was also performed to evaluate hot spots. (author).
