A search for the process π/sup -/p → K/sup 0/Λ at 900 in the center of mass frame
Description
During an experiment to study large-angle exclusive reactions, the authors have searched for the process π/sup -/rho → K0 Λ at 900 in the center of mass at 10 GeV/c. The experiment, performed at Brookhaven National Laboratory, consisted of a magnetic spectrometer and recoil-arm chambers. The reconstruction of a momentum-analyzed proton and the pion from a Λ-decay allowed the calculation of a missing mass recoiling against the Λ and the identification of the K0 Λ exclusive final state. One candidate event was found, which compared to the 1200 π/sup -/rho elastic events in the same data sample sets a very low limit on the 900 exclusive production cross-section, dσ/dt, of approximately 75 rhob/(GeV/c)/sup 2/
