Description

Giant resonances in 90Zr and 120Sn have been studied using inelastic scattering of 200 MeV protons. The isovector giant dipole and isoscalar giant quadrupole and giant octupole (L = 3,3h/2πω) resonances are clearly observed. An upper limit of approx. equal to 5% is placed on the 2h/2πω hexadecapole strength in the quadrupole resonance peak. For 90Zr a peak is observed which is consistent with recently reported M1 strength. (orig.)
