Sorption of copper and cadmium ions by natural sorbents

Description
Sorption capacity of zeolites and peat as regards copper (2) and cadmium ions was studied. Their exchange isotherms were plotted and distribution coefficients were calculated. The maximum exchange capacities of the sorbents in terms of Cu2+ and Cd2+ ions were determined by the method of saturation. On the basis of comparison made for the data of IR spectroscopy and Cu2+ and Cd2+ ion selectivity a mechanism of their interaction with sorbent active centers is suggested
