Design and development of calibration facility for health physics instruments

Description
Calibration of radiation detection instruments is required to ensure that the measurements performed with these instruments are reliable and accurate. Hence, a calibration facility in shielded cubical for portable radiation instruments as well as Area Gamma Monitor (AGM) having the range up to 1 mGy/hr and 100 mGy/hr was set up. The calibration facility is equipped with features such as master slave manipulators fitted to the shielded cubical, remotely operated trolley and radiation shielded viewing window. Inside shielded cubical, two Cs-137 sources of strength 0.814 and 74 GBq in shielding casks are kept. Radioactive Plant comprise of large number of installed and portable monitors to alert plant personnel about the radiation status
