Description

The authors have built a combination scintillating fiber tracker/preshower detector to study electron and pion separation using differences in the early development of a shower. Data were collected in a test beam at Fermilab and results of their analysis is presented. In addition for some part of the data collection they placed a high field magnet upstream of the detector to study how synchrotron radiation might be used to further improve the separation
