Analysis of remaining life in piping systems made from titanium
Description
The oil and gas industry utilizes pipelines as the most secure and most economical means of transportation. The pipelines used are metal-based. Over time, metal pipes can experience a decrease in quality caused by corrosion which will have an impact on industrial activities and can reduce the remaining service life of the pipe. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the corrosion rate and remaining service life of the piping system. The research was conducted on piping system with line BP-202-2-3J5 and line BP-9424-8-1J3. Research data based on measurement data obtained from Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging GE USM GO PLUS and Krautkramer DM5E testing on line BP-202-2-3J5 as many as 15 observation points namely, Elbow 1a, 1b, 1c, Elbow 2a, 2b, 2c, Elbow 3a, 3b, 3c, A, B, C, D, E, and F and on line BP-9424-8-1J3 as many as 9 observation points namely, Elbow 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, A, B, C, and D with each observation point divided into 4 degree points, namely 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270°. Calculations and analysis were carried out in accordance with the API 574 standard in 2016, with the results of the corrosion rate and remaining life on line BP-202-2-3J5 of 0.02 mm/year and 22,60 years while on line BP-9424-8-1J3 of 0.02 mm/year and 477.34 years.
