Control rod uncoupling detection systems
Description
Purpose: To improve the maintenance performance and enable power distribution monitoring without the aid of extraction procedures by the indirect uncoupling detection between control rods and control rod drives in BWR type reactors. Constitution: Power (neutron flux) in the reactor is detected by a neutron detector and sent to a power distribution monitor. Control rod drives actuated by the signal from a control rod operation section outputs a control rod transfer signal, which is inputted together with the power distribution signal from the monitor into a judging device. The judging device judges whether there is a 1 : 1 correspondency between the changes in the control rod transfer signal and the power distribution signal. If the correspondency lacks, it is judged as the uncoupling state to issue an alarm from an alarming device and stop the operation for the control rod. (Furukawa, Y.)
