Sorption radioactive decontamination of technological solutions of atomic power plants

Description
The main groups of synthetic inorganic ion exchangers are briefly reviewed from the point of view of their selectivity in respect to cesium. The results of bench-scale tests of the new selective spherically granulated ion exchanger of the Termoksid-35 grade dealing with cesium decontamination under the conditions of filtration of liquid radioactive wastes at the Beloyarsk and South Ukrainian NPPs and that of the unit desalination plant regenerate at the Kalinin NPP are discussed. The results considered show that the Termoksid-35 ion exchanger is the high-efficient collector of cesium isotopes. The serviceability in high-salt solutions and stability in alkaline environment make it the prospective material for decontamination and utilization of the process solutions produced in the process of NPP operation
