Research reactor grade-up program in JAERI
Description
The present status of the research reactors at JAERI, JRR-2, JRR-3 and JRR-4, is described. The JRR-3 is planned to be upgraded to some 20MW, the maximum thermal neutron flux being about 4x1014n/cm2s and cylindrical plate type fuel elements with 93% enriched uranium would be used. A new 5MW core with a thermal flux level of 5x1013n/cm2s will be installed and used for irradiation purposes whereas the existing core is used for shielding studies and training purposes. (author)
