Computerized tomography as a diagnostic method and some aspects for physiciens

  • 1. Ustredni Vojenska Nemocnice, Prague (Czechoslovakia)

Description

Experience is assessed with computerized tomography (CT) after three years of operation in clinical practice. The radiation burden of patients is discussed as is the diagnostic success rate of the method as concerns different tissues and organs of the human body. The high perfection is underlined of CT using dynamic scans during rapid i.v. application of a contrast medium. Notable is the ability of CT to distinguish minor differences in tissue density. The number of examinations and pathological findings during three years of operation, and the proportion of pathological findings in dependence on the age of the patients are shown graphically. The specification of CT machines manufactured by leading world manufacturers are tabulated. (Pu)
