Study of the decay scheme of Ir-192 by fast/slow gamma-gamma coincidence

Description

In the present study, the decay of 74.2 days Ir-192 has been investigated. For the measurements of single gamma-ray spectra a 79 cm3 HPGe coaxial detector with high resolution is used. While for the fast/slow gamma-gamma coincidence measurements, two techniques are used: Constant Fraction Discriminator CFD and Constant Fraction Differential Discriminator CFDD. The spectrometer, in the CFD method, consists of two high resolutions, HPGe coaxial detectors of 79 cm3 and 63 cm3 active volumes, while the CFDD method, a standard 3''x3'' NaI(TI) scintillation detector with the 79 cm3 HPGe detector has been used. It is found that the latter method has an advantage on the CFD method by eliminating the slow energy part of the circuit used and reducing the set-up time. 4 tabs.; 30 figs.; 44 refs.; 1 app
