Experimental studies of the effect of rod spacing on burnout in a simulated rod bundle

Description

Tests on a dumb-bell shaped flow passage simulating the gap between rods in a fuel element indicated that burnout was not significantly affected by inter-rod gap in the range 0.032'' to 0.22''. Test conditions were: 960 p.s.i.a., 2 x 1061b/ft2hr mass velocity, and 10% mean exit quality with vertical upflow of water. (author)
