Description

A review is presented of studies on the application of positron emission tomography (PET) in research of some organic cerebral diseases and mental diseases. In the studies, the knowledge was confirmed in a unique manner of the pathophysiological mechanisms of electrophysiological correlates in epileptic fits that could so far be only observed in experiments in animals. It is envisaged that the PET technique can significantly contribute to diagnosis of neural infections. (author). 29 refs
