Giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma: a case report

Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma is a rare malignant tumor originating from the primitive mesenchymal cell. This cell undergoes changes in its genetic code, producing atypical adipose tissue. This research aims to report a case in which there was the diagnosis of Giant Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma. It is a descriptive study of the Case Report and retrospective. The research was conducted at the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Hospital, in the municipality of Patos de Minas - MG. A patient undergoing retroperitoneal liposarcoma removal was enrolled in the study. The data collection was started in December 2018 after the authorization of the Ethics and Research Committee (CEP) of the University Center of Patos de Minas - UNIPAM. The data were obtained through the patients chart where it was possible to have access to the patients clinical history, to the exams and interventions performed. This information was selected and organized in chronological order by the researchers in order to contribute to the composition of the report of this work. It has been shown that Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma is a type of cancer that, if it is diagnosed early and the surgical treatment is performed, may present a good prognosis. (author)
