Description

The paper briefly describes the global climate system, the constituents of the earth atmosphere, the natural greenhouse effect and its enhancement through man-made impacts, particularly the increasing CO2 emissions. The establishment of climate models and their information value are explained, referring e.g. to the signs given by experimental data, indicating a global warming. The author stresses the need for international, concerted action to avoid emissions contributing to global warming. (orig.)

Der Beitrag umfasst eine Beschreibung des globalen Klimasystems, die Zusammensetzung der Atmosphaere und erklaert den natuerlichen Treibhauseffekt sowie seine Verstaerkung durch menschliche Aktivitaeten, insbesondere ueber den Anstieg der CO2-Emissionen. Entwicklung und Aussagen von Klimamodellen werden beschrieben und Indizien einer globalen Erwaermung in den Beobachtungsdaten vorgestellt. Es wird auf die Dringlichkeit weltweiter Vermeidungsmassnahmen hingewiesen. (orig.)
