Description

Measurements have been made of the coherent dissociation process p+A→pπ0+ A with 22.7GeV/c protons incident on nuclear targets. Coulomb dissociation producing primarily Δ+, and diffractive dissociation are observed. The Δ+ production cross sections are in excellent agreement with the predictions from Δ+ photoproduction. Some disagreement with published neutron dissociation data recorded at comparable energies is noted. (Auth.)
