High pressure Moessbauer spectroscopy on europium intermetallic compounds with intermediate valencies
- 1. Technische Univ. Muenchen, Garching (Germany, F.R.). Physik-Dept.
Description
Moessbauer studies under high pressure (0<=P<=65 kbar) and in the temperature range between 300 K and 4.2 K were performed in Eusub(0.25)Lasub(0.75)Rh2 and EuPt2 with the aim to investigate inter-configurational charge fluctuations. In Eusub(0.25)Lasub(0.75)Rh2 an increase is found of the energy separation Esub(exc) between the Eu2+ and the Eu3+ configuration with pressure of 5 K/kbar. In EuPt2 the Eu atom retained the Eu2+ state up to 65 kbar. (Auth.)
