Effects of gamma-irradiation on isothermal decomposition rate and activation energy of ammonium perchlorate (Preprint no. RC-39)

Description

Multistage complex isothermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) is markedly influenced by gamma-irradiation. Dependence of acceleratory constants on gamma-dose does not bear a simple relation between the two when certain data are plotted. Logarithmic plots yield straight lines. Activation energies for isothermal decomposition of AP decrease with rise in radiation dose. The strain and stress produced in voids of AP samples are responsible for lowering the activation energy.
