BWR operators training courses using advanced control pannel simulator

Description
The BWR Operator Training Center Corp. was established in April, 1971, and started the training in April, 1974. At present, the BWR power stations in operation in Japan comprise 12 plants, and the unit capacity reached 1100 MW. The trainees in fiscal 1983 are 222 persons, and the total is expected to be 1,214 persons. It was decided in November, 1979, to install the second simulator to meet the increase of the demand for training. The new simulator adopting a new control panel was ordered from Toshiba Corp. and Hitachi Ltd., and the investigation committee composed of the members from electric power companies, manufacturers and BTC examined the specifications, work schedule and the contents of training. The new central control panel is divided into the main panel, NSS subpanel and BOP subpanel, it is equipped with 11 color CRTs, its process computer function is strengthened, voice notice system is installed, and main conventional instruments remain. The function of the new simulator is expanded malfunction, scheduling function, the improved feeling of at the spot, and remote control. The present state of the training courses and the training plan using the new simulator are explained. (Kako, I.)
