Cobalt effect on the Fe2Mo Laves phase solubility in maraging steels
- 1. Tsentral'nyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Chernoj Metallurgii, Moscow (USSR)
Description
Using various methods, the evolution of the Fe2Mo compound having the Laves phase structure in alloys of Fe+10% Mo+(0 to 20%) Co was studied. The thermodynamic analysis of this process was carried out. It was found that the increase in the volume proportion of the strengthening Fe2Mo Laves phase in maraging alloys ia due to that cobalt and nickel, which dissolve in this compounds, enhance the thermodynamic stability of Fe2Mo
