Polar and azimuthal distributions of subthreshold πo's: a probe of reaction dynamics and pion final-state interactions
Description
In a measurement during the first TAPS campaign at GANIL (March 1990) we have extended the available experimental systematics of π0 production cross sections to a very heavy collision system, i.e. characterized by particularly large final-state effects. From these inclusive data, first quantitative results could be extracted on the absorption length of neutral pions in nuclear matter. (orig./HSI)
