Use of ultrasound in post-surgery complications. Identification of gossypiboma

Gauzes (gossypibomas) are the most common type of oblito. The oblitus is defined as any foreign body forgotten during a surgical intervention or invasive procedure, without therapeutic effect. Ultrasound is an innocuous, accessible, dynamic, sensitive and specific method, and pursues the sole purpose of facilitating early diagnosis, and above all, using it if there is underlying diagnostic doubt and/or in the postoperative process. For this reason, we must optimize the interrelation between the services, minimizing the side effects of surgery, reducing the patient's morbidity and mortality, and promoting scientific and professional discussion in pursuit of an improvement in care.
