Optimization of Doppler reactivity in thermal reactors

Description
Using a Generalized Perturbation Theory (GPT), a formalism aiming to optimize the Doppler reactivity in a nuclear reactor, was developed. Using this formalism, as a consequence of the Doppler reactivity optimization process, the fuel enrichment was determined in the case of temperature excursions. An application of this formalism to a PWR type reactor, showed that the Doppler reactivity is dependent on the excess of reactivity. (E.G.)

Usando-se a Teoria de Perturbacao Generalizada (GPT) desenvolveu-se um formalismo para otimizacao da reatividade Doppler em um reator nuclear. Atraves deste formalismo determinamos, como consequencia do processo de otimizacao da reatividade Doppler, o enriquecimento do combustivel que garante ao sistema, o maximo controle inerente, no caso de uma excursao de temperatura. Uma aplicacao do formalismo a um reator termico, tipo PWR, mostrou que a reatividade Doppler obtida e fortemente dependente do excesso de reatividade requerido. (Autor)Additional details
