Preparation and superconductivity of the BPSCCO-2223 sintered bulk by new designed composite

Description

We prepared new designed (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox (BPSCCO-2223) superconductor bulk composed with Ag wires or mono-cored PIT wire filaments for high current application such as nuclear fusion reactor. The composite structure was newly developed with the aim of the protection when bulk material used to current feeder for large scaled application. As the results, transport Jc and Ic values of the PIT filaments composite were increased compared with that of Ag wires composite bulk. This is why good c-axis oriented and densely structured BPSCCO-2223 plate-like grains were formed on the both outer and inner interface between the oxide and Ag in the PIT filaments. We thought that composing of PIT filaments was one of the effective methods to improve Jc properties. Furthermore, we found that composed PIT filaments may be act as a role like the bypass circuit in accidents such as the mechanical and/or electrical fracture
