Nuclear power in the Indian energy context

This paper considers projections of energy demand and supply in India by the year AD 2000 by various people and by different methods. Special emphasis is given to the present and future of nuclear energy in India and the environmental and cost aspects of expansion of nuclear power are discussed in detail. This study shows that the environmental hazards while expanding nuclear power should be given substantial consideration before planning further energy production. A method is discussed here whereby at least the more serious consequence of the fast breeder technology are eliminated
