Accumulation of sup(99m)Tc Methylendiphosphonate in liver metastasis (case report)

Description
Marked accumulation of a bone seeking compound in multilocular hepatic metastases of a prostate primary is reported. Single photon emission CT of the bone and liver scan permit exact topographic localization and determination of the extent of the lesions. Ultrasound and transmission CT images suggest necrosis of metastatic tumor masses as possible explanation for sup(99m)Tc-methylendiphosphonate soft tissue uptake. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Es wird ueber einen Fall von Speicherung eines knochenaffinen Tracers in multiplen Lebermetastasen eines Prostatakarzinoms berichtet. Single Photon Emissions-CT des Knochens und der Leber erlauben eine exakte topographische Bestimmung der Ausdehnung des Leberbefalls. Sonographie und Transmissions-CT lassen den Schluss zu, dass in diesem Falle die Nekrose der Tumormassen als Ursache der Weichteilspeicherung von sup(99m)Tc-Methylendiphosphonat angesehen werden kann.
