Experimental studies of ordering in Fe3Al

  • 1. California Inst. of Tech., Pasadena, CA (United States)

Description

Mossbauer spectrometry and extended electron energy-loss fine structure measurements are used to study the evolution of short range order, and X-ray diffractometry was used to determine the development of long range order in Fe3Al. Short range order develops quickly at the very beginning but then slows down to develop together with long range order. In this early stage of ordering, both of the intensity of the line width of superlattice diffraction peaks were used to evaluate the evolution of long range order. In this paper the correspondence of long range order and short range order, along with the growth of domain size are presented
