Description
We evaluate the scalar form factor of the pion within the framework of the SU(2) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. We show that this quantity puts powerful constraints on the parameters of the model. We demonstrate that together with a reasonable description of the scalar pion form factor one finds a quark mass dependence of the pion mass and decay constant in agreement with rigorous results from chiral perturbation theory.
