Description

The design and performance of a newly-developed isotope generator are described. The product is strontium-87m which is particularly required for the scintiscanning of hip prostheses. First natural strontium was used as a target but for technical reasons this was replaced by strontium chloride. After irradiation with 28-MeV protons from a cyclotron the product was leached and eluted on a sterile column packed with coated Teflon beads. The eluate is ready for use after mixing it with a sterile phosphate buffer. (Auth.)
