Luminescence of materials in the synthesis of Sr2TiO4
- 1. Ural'skij Politekhnicheskij Inst., Sverdlovsk (USSR)
Description
By means of luminescence structure formation during the Sr2TiO4:E4 synthesis has been traced. E43+ ion is used as an activator and at the same time as indicator of the structure. The optimum concentration of E43+ ions is 0.01 mol. %. It has been established that there exist two types of optical centres (A and B), which are excited at lambdasub(b)=365 nm and lambdasub(b)=340 nm, respectively. The A centres are evidently associated with the formation of SrTiO3 layers. It has been found that the B centres are sensitive to the temperature of quenching of samples and are undergoing an abrupt extinction at temperatures of 1,400 to 1,450 deg C, that seems to be due to the transition of the β phase to the α phase
