Panel discussion: controls and beam diagnostics

Creators

Description

Some doubts are expressed whether one can produce a very detailed specification for a control system at the start of a project, so flexibility must be left for subsequent changes. It is agreed that more computing power will be needed for modelling and simulation. It is concluded that it is possible to make up a control system entirely from microprocessors, but that it seems advisable to keep a few largish computers at the centre. (G.T.H.)
