High-burnup experience at Farley 1 and Point Beach 2

Description
The economical use of fuel resources and spent-fuel storage benefits have encouraged the extension of fuel burnup. Westinghouse has conducted several fuel performance development programs to confirm the operational reliability of fuel at extended burnup. These programs have included both bounding duty evaluations in test reactors and standard production fuel assembly irradiations in commercial pressurized water reactors (PWRs). The optimized fuel assembly (OFA) high-burnup demonstration program, which included irradiating a total of ten OFA demonstration assemblies at four separate reactor sites, is a key element of the fuel assembly irradiation program
