Performance-based design and the application of fire modeling
Description
This presentation discusses performance-based design (PBD) and the application of fire modeling. PBD is used to achieve and design unique solutions which may not be permitted by todays generic prescriptive building code requirements. It requires applying different alternatives or equivalencies and computer fire modelling to assess PBD followed by ULC testing. PBD involves deviations from codes and standards for egress routes/distances, fire detection (video imaging) and suppression systems and facilities that hold zirconium.
