Correlation between Charpy Test Results and those from Larger Specimens and Structures on the Basis of General yield
Description
The authors discuss whether the instrumented Charpy test (with notched or pre-cracked specimens) is a suitable instrument to determine the general yield temperature of structures. Thus, they investigate the parameters of interest which may influence this temperature. Experiments are performed on a micro-alloyed fine grained normalized structural steel (StE 460 according to German standard). These experiments are performed on wide plate specimens, single edge notched three point bending specimens, and Charpy specimens. Results are discussed
