Description
This paper presents the results of a conceptual design study leading to the definition of a reference design for the Advanced Neutron Source (ANS) heavy water cooling system. The objective of this study was to define a cooling system that not only met the ANS goals for operating parameters, reliability, availability, and maintainability, but also utilized inherent, passive, and diverse features and characteristics to satisfy the ANS internal events core melt goal of <10-5/year
