A new method for the calculation of the dose distribution around cylindrical gamma sources and the application for the computation of isodose plans for gynaecological radium-226 and iridium-192 applicators
Description
The method is based on an analytical representation of the non-exponential decrease of the Ra γ-radiation as a function of platinum layer thickness. The shielding function allows a direct integration of the Siewert integral. Thus exact numerical calculations of the dose become feasible for linear sources. Computer-based isodose distributions for tissue are presented for 56 Ra-applicators from the Goettingen isodose collection. (DG)

Das Verfahren beruht auf einer analytischen Darstellung der nicht-exponentiellen Schwaechung der γ-Strahlung des Ra in Abhaengigkeit von der durchstrahlten Platin-Schichtdicke. Die Schwaechungsfunktion erlaubt die direkte Integration des Sievert-Integrals. Dadurch werden exakte numerische Berechnungen der Dosisleistung von linearen Quellen moeglich. Fuer 56 Ra-Applikatoren aus dem Goettinger Isodosenatlas werden computerberechnete Isodosenblaetter fuer Gewebe wiedergegeben. (DG)Additional details
