Filaments and magnetic field of an active region

  • 1. Siberian Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, the Ionosphere, and Radio-Wave Propagation, Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences

Description

On the basis of a joint investigation of magnetograms and filtergrams in the Hα and Hβ lines it is found that the existence of quiescent filaments within the two active regions studied is connected with certain values of the longitudinal magnetic field gradient near the line of separation of polarities
