Vertex detectors - lectures presented at the Advanced Study Institute on techniques and concepts of high energy physics, St. Croix, June 1986
Description
High precision vertex detectors can be used to identify the decay products of parent particles which have lifetimes of the order 10-13 seconds. The paper summarises the performance achieved by a variety of techniques, and proceeds to a detailed discussion of the current status and potential of silicon detectors for high precision tracking.
