Design of long-pulse fast wave current drive antennas for DIII-D

Description
Two new long-pulse fast wave current drive (FWCD) antennas will be installed on DIII-D in early 1994. These antennas will increase the available FWCD power from 2 MW to 6 MW for pulse lengths of up to 2 s, and to 4 MW for up to 10 s. Power for the new antennas is from two ASDEX-type 30- to 120-MHz transmitters. When operated at 90 degree phasing into a low-density plasma (∼4x1019m-3) with hot electrons (∼10 keV), these two new antennas are predicted to drive approximately 1 MA of plasma current
