First experience with gamma- scanner ''RoSCAN''

One of VKTA's assignments is the teardown of numerous old nuclear plants in the area of the scientific center of Rossendorf. A widespread radiological investigation of these objects is therefore necessary. To perform this task, the gamma-scanner ''RoSCAN'' was developed in cooperation between VKTA Rossendorf and GBS Elektronik. RoSCAN is an analyzer, which can be used in inaccessible areas like within hot cells, because of it's compact size. The measuring head can be placed within 50 meters away from the analyzing unit. All done measurements up to now have determined the spreading of activity without any personal effort at the spot for planning of disposal (→ it minimizes radiological expositions). The results are encouraging and have shown less expenses due to comparable analyzers on the-market. (orig.)
