Structure function of large air showers

Description
Shielded and unshielded spark chambers have been incorporated into the Sydney University Air Shower Recorder (SUGAR). Particle densities measured with these detectors are used to determine the lateral distribution function for the charged particle and muon component of large (E > 5 x 1016 eV) air showers. We find that muon to charged particle ratio is higher than predicted by extrapolation of measurements made at lower energies. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
(orig.)Additional details
